Cookie Policy
In effect since
Short version
AskSocrat uses one cookie. It is strictly necessary for the Service to work and exempt from consent under the e-Privacy Directive. We use no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to or refuse.
The cookie we set
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
sessionid | Identifies your session so that the dialogue, gating, and account state survive between page loads. Without it you would have to start a new dialogue on every refresh. | 14 days, sliding | First-party · HttpOnly · Secure · SameSite=Lax |
What we do not set
-
No
_ga,_gid,_fbp,_fbc, or any other ad/marketing pixel. - No A/B-testing cookie.
- No third-party CDN cookie (we self-host fonts and assets).
- No session-replay cookie.
Local storage
Two small local-storage entries may be set in your browser to keep the experience civil between visits:
-
socrat.greek.<email>— caches the polytonic-Greek transliteration of your display name so we don't ask the LLM to redo it on every page load. -
socrat.draft— your in-progress message, so you don't lose what you typed if you accidentally close the tab. Cleared on send.
You can clear both at any time from your browser's Storage panel.
Sub-processors and their cookies
Stripe sets cookies only on its own checkout pages. They are not set on asksocrat.com. See Stripe's cookie settings.
Changes
If we ever add a cookie that requires consent, a banner will appear and this page will list the cookie before it is set.
